The Works Navi's Escort

Update # 3453234-09

We've treated the Escort to a new carb, thanks to McNamara's in Dublin. They really pulled out the stops, I dropped it off after lunch on Monday, they stripped & examined it on Tuesday, they phoned Wednesday morning with the bad news and had it back together after lunch on Wednesday, along with a BRAND NEW one set-up and jetted to match the old 'un. Now, that's a rapid turn-around.

The reason for the new carb is that the one one was so worn, the price of fixing it was more than the price of a new one. And for the sake of originality, the original carb was brought home and is going to be kept as well.

Installing the carb was a regular "time to curse at Ford" as there was one nut in the most impossible place known to man to reach. I got in on, eventually. Now we'll see if the bloody thing starts and doesn't go on fire....

Background

This is, probably, the Red Mist's most loved car. This is the Ford Escort belonging to the Works Navi. As he is currently unavailable, it is entrusted into the care of Camper, who is trying his damndest to keep it off the roof.

It can be found wrapped up in cotton wool in the garage, or being used for the West Cork Classic Retro, where it has an excellent class record, despite the driver & navigator!
