Well, the gang are back home after their weekend. BunBun, Camper, Macca, Ice-cream, Steak and Big T went from RedMistMotorsport.com gang, along with Brian from MacSport, and the CaseyRallySport gang. We went marshalling and had a great time.
The trip up to Donegal was fairly boring, but took a long time, due to Big T & Steak taking their bloody time! (Note to Steak, will you strap a turbo to that bloody car!)
Friday, and the start of the rally. The gang got split up and marshaled on four junctions on the second stage. Big T spent the day with a brush, trying to clean the junction after every car, Macca & Ice-Cream tried to get a Civic Rally Car out of the bog at their junction, while the CaseyRallySport team, Batty & Camper spent the day marshaling sheep and cows.
Friday night we discovered that Big T snores and that Macca's feet smell (Oh my God! the smell stripped the paint from the walls!)
Saturday the gang was marshaling on the hairpin on Knockalla. The hairpin was a great spot for watching the cars drifting. However, one Twin Cam Corolla went too far, spun and got a "House for Sale" sign stuck in the back of the car. The Corolla then continued off down the road with the sign stuck in the back of the car. As we were marshaling, we didn't take any photos of it.
Sunday, the gang were marshaling on Atlantic Drive. The gang were on four locations, all within one mile of each other, so their was fierce banter on our radio system centered on Camper's sexual orientation and Stig's ability to break a steel bar in a bucket of water. Kevin Lynch crashed at Macca's spot, with the car ending up at the front door of a house! A mark 2 Escort and a rear wheel drive mark 5 Escort also crashed at that spot. Macca, being the good marshal that he is, left the camera in the car, so no photos are available (damn it!) The main reason for the drama is that there was a rain shower 20 minutes before the start of the stage.
At Campers spot, a junior in a Civic took the corner off a stone outhouse. The driver blamed a lack of power steering, but I'd say that the cause was the fact that the brakes don't work when the car is in the air!
Sunday night was spent in the Rally HQ. The night was spent with the CaseyRallySport gang playing "Hard to Get" on the dance floor with the 500 Donegal lasses on the dance floor. BunBun gave a demonstration of his dancing (dis)ability, and the trauma has still not worn off!
The spin home was fairly uneventful, with just the odd car crash or three, overheating Peugeot GTi, breaking exhausts and the odd breakdown.
