Skibbereen Reggie Tilson Night Nav

The AX Survives it's first night!!

27 November, 2006.

The gang were out in force Saturday night at Skibbereen's Reggie Tilson Night Nav. Surprisingly, most of the gang were competing, with Steak & Ice-Cream out in "The Scutting Car" (the Civic) and Camper brought out the AX finally (I can hear the cheering allready!) The Councillor & Cobh were out marshalling, as The Councillor had "car trouble". That is the worst excuse ever. He was just afraid of the competition from Red Mist!

Casey RallySport's Johnny & Vinny were out in the company car for the night and proudly showed all in sundry their new tyres (sad gits!)

Camper had his brother navigating for the first time, and Keith was instantly christened "The Works Navigator", as he flew in to do the event, and flew back out Sunday afternoon!

Big T also graced the event with his presence. The powers that be decided to appoint him the MI steward for the event. Being the big shot that he is, he "requested" a marshal for driving him around all night. We're just glad that he got Tadhg O Conaill, as Big T couldn't smoke all night!

Plotting was interesting, as Casey RallySport decided to share Camper's table. The result was plenty of pushing, shoving and rude comments. Oh, we shared our combined (limited) knowledge with the plotting, and we both made the same mistake when filling in our time cards! Steak & Ice-Cream, the cute hoors, came late and all the tables were taken for plotting. The only free space was by the bar, next to the spot were the marshals were given their time points. They claim that they didn't listen in at all!

The event started well (the cars started) but there was trouble straight away. We all made a dogs dinner of the Speed Regularity Section, by taking the wrong route! The rest of the event was spent getting lost, visiting the same point 27 times, praying that the car didn't get stuck in the dirt lanes and generally having a laugh.

All the cars got on fine. There was no mechanical dramas, except for the Casey RallySport Company Car breaking down for 20 minutes. They got the car going in the end (Blast it anyway, we were hoping that they would have to retire!)

The results were interesting. Camper had 471 penalties, Steak had 480, and Casey's had 321! The Casey RallySport gang came seventh in class, and their heads still haven't stopped swelling yet. They attributed their success to their new tyres, but Camper reckons that they were eavesdropping during the plotting.

The AX after the night nav. See, it did go out!

Sunday was spent washing the AX (powerhosing it really), picking the grass & foliage out of the brakes, wishbones, anti-roll bar, gear linkage, rad and the rear wiper(!).

We don't have any more photos at the moment, and the RedMist Photographer (Camper) was competing. If anybody has any photos, send them on to us!

A big thanks to Anthony & Fergus Harrington and all in the Skibbereen & District Car Club for a great event.
