4 October, 2006.
Well, we're back from the Cork "20". The main interest was that our very own, Big T, ran two stages for the rally on Saturday. Also, Ger Fahy was again guiding Paul Fitzgerald in the Junior Rally.
So, How did the day go? Well, the meeting point was the Auld Triangle in Macroom at 07:20. I had a great start to the day, when I woke up at 07:10! I must point out that I didn't break the speed limits on my way to Macroom.
I discovered later that Big T himself had slept out, and was himself late. This was a great start to the day, the Stage Commander & Flying Finish both late for the meeting point.
After the initial panic, we got everybody in to their Junctions. Steak was doing Arrival Control, Big T, The Hoff & M.M. were at the start. Dell was doing Mid point and Camper & Ice-Cream was doing Flying Finish. Also there was Ex-Commander Bond, Donny, John Williams, Pockets and loads of other people.
The stage ran perfectly (as always when we are involved), and the weather was shocking, but I didn't care, as I was tucked up in the car!

The only scandal on Saturday was Pat Nolan. Mr Nolan was doing the start radio on the first stage. Unfortunately, the radio would not work. After 45 minutes of cursing, sweating and changing radio components, the radio was still not working. Some bright spark suggested taking the aerial off the roof of the car, and putting it on the boot. Eureka!! It Worked! Basically, as Mr Nolan brought the Legacy RS, the radio would not work, as the roof of the Legacy is aluminium. The rest of the day was spent laughing at Pat, and we promised not to mention it, much. The only good thing is that Mr Nolan now knows that the Legacy is a genuine RS, as the RS was the only one with aluminium roof (Something about a lightweight shell!)

Sunday dawned bright & clear, and Big T & Camper found themselves at the flying finish of the first stage of the day. Flying Finish proved to be interesting, especially as the timing gear malfunctioned! I know that this sounds bad, but the batteries were not charged!
Ger Fahy guided Paul Fitzgerald to Second Junior, and first in Class after a fine drive. That showed that the forestry men can drive on the black stuff. Another forestry man to do well was Keith Cronin, who finished second group N home, in his first drive in the Evo on tarmac. As usual, Keith was navigated by Anthony O Conaill.
