FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
And We Finished, despite the hold ups (click here for the story). We're back after our weekend jaunt around beautiful West Cork. BunBun, Quinny, Steak, Ice-Cream & Big T were out competing while Camper was in service, wondering which end of a spanner to hold (the trick is to hold it in the middle!) As well as that, The Hoff, M.M., Macca, The Councillor and Shocks (Big T's Dancing Partner) were out marshalling, and Mol (aka Pippi) & probationary member, Ger Fahy was keeping people entertained at service in control!
On to the important stuff. All three cars survived, including the "Flying Snot"! The only mechanical drama was when a driveshaft gaiter split on the "Flying Snot", spreading grease everywhere! The typical Red Mist attitude of "Feck it, Keep going until it melts!" worked and the car got home.
Oh, by the way, Ice-Cream got hold of new wheels just before the event (something about fitting over the brakes...) and they "discovered" in scrutiny that the rear tyres now rubbed the arches. While Ice-Cream & Steak panicked and had the biggest fight in history, the arches were "gently massaged with a lump hammer". The other problem in scrutiny was with Goffy. He took up residence in the navigators seat of the "Flying Snot" and declared that he was doing the event. Then the little boyo spent half an hour insulting the car and it's driver. By the way, we're still looking for the homologation numbers for Duck Tape. If anybody knows where we can get it, drop us a line.
The times at the end of the day told an interesting story. BunBun & Quinny finished in 83rd spot, Ice-Cream & Steak finished in 95th spot, 5th in class, while Big T & Sparky finished in 97th spot, one minute further back.
The award ceremony was interesting. Steak & Ice-cream had no idea that they were placed in class and had just arrived (via the bar) to hear their names being called out. As they missed the blurb at the start, they just looked shocked and walked up to the podium in shock. If they can get 5th in class with a standard carb, what'll happen when the twin 40's go on?
So, from Ice-Cream & Steak, a big thanks to
