FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Well, it was a poor event as the Red Mist gang go, as we had NO members out competing. We had a load out marshalling instead. As well as that, it was a poor day for our young rally gods (Owen Murphy & Keith Cornin), but Greg McCarthy did a grand job in keeping Liam's seat warm.
Camper, Steak, Ice Cream, Bun Bun & Mol (aka Pippi) were marshalling along with Darren, Pat, Graham & Dan from the Cork Motor Club. We generally had a grand day marshalling on a hairpin on stage 3. We had a laugh, and got soaked to the skin! We also had some VIP spectators (Kenny McKinstry) but the spectators were well behaved (I suppose that they were too wet to move!)
We were entertained by the numerous c*ck ups fella's made at the hairpin, and also by the 106 that decided to cool the proflex reservoir on the back by dragging it along in the water on the ground.
The good news is that Greg McCarthy guided Frank Kelly to 4th overall and first 2wd home, despite Frank smacking Greg's door! The bad news is that Keith Cronin & Anthony O Conaill had a slight off on stage 3, got the car stuck and could not get back on the road. The wet conditions did not help at all, and on that stage, ther was at least 2 miles of the road with standing water.
Owen Murphy didn't start the event, as the car wans't ready after Galway. The problem was that a gearbox was not back, or so I believe.
The bad news is that, as we were all marshalling, we have no photos to regail you with. So, enjoy this random photo taken in Monte Carlo last year.
