FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rally Ireland
We're Back!
Home at last, after an exciting weekend of World Rally Championship. The
Hoff, M.M., Suggs, Dell, The Councillor all went up, along with CaseyRallySport,
Norrie Rallying and about half of Cork Motor Club!
The Highlights include
- Forgetting the keys for the BBQ point on the camper (we had to fry the
breakfast instead)
- CaseyRallySport giving Henning Solberg & M-Sport a lesson on tree
surgery (Video here)
- "Discovering" nobody in Norrie Rallying can sing, but they can cook a
mean BBQ
- Owen Murphy, fresh from his Rally Ireland experience (Well done, by the
way) got some tyre change practice on the road outside Knock. The Fiat jack
bent trying to lift the camper, typical Fiat! and Owen, and a local farmer
came to the rescue!
- Getting completely soaked on Friday!
- Getting completely soaked on Saturday!
- Having to go back to Enniskillen on Friday night, as I forget to get
some of the finest British pounds the first time going through!
- "Gatecrashing" a 21st birthday party Saturday night
- Making amends Sunday night
- Making an executive decision (Screw the lot of you!) to accept Shocks
(or JJ to some!) as a probationary member. I'm still waiting for the
"admission fee", if you know what I mean....
- Getting 6 people in to the VIP viewing stand at the finish ramp on 5 VIP
passes. Thanks John for the passes, and for getting us into the results
room!
- Learning to hate the Beetles number, "Yellow Submarine"
- Laughing at the cat fights between Jerry & Kieran! ("You stole the air
from the airbed", "No, it was your ugly face that scared away the air")
- Norrie Rallying getting rescued by Munster Recovery (well, it was only a
gallon of diesel, but they still ran out of diesel)
- Wondering how Owen Murphy managed to jump higher than Loeb coming into
our junction on the Tempo Stage, in a Fiesta?
- NOT GETTING OUR RALLY IRELAND MARSHALS JACKET!!!!!!!
- Hobnobbing it with the rest of the rally glitterati in the VIP viewing
stand. (Suggs has the photos to prove!)
- Discovering the late, great Bertie Fisher's testing stage!
So, all in all, an exciting, if wet weekend
