Cork Mini Stages Rally

A mixed day for the gang...

We're home after the event, tired, broke and cursing at the fella's who, over 100 years ago, decided to see which car was fastest and thus invented motor racing! The gang were out in force, with Big T, Goffy, Steak, Ice-Cream, Sparkie & Cousin Brian all competing. Myself, BunBun, Mol (aka Pippi), Her Madness, The Hoff, Suggs, Dell & The Councillor were all out trying to organise the event.

So, for the scandal! The new Big T bus didn't make the finish. The clutch decided to sulk on stage 3, and the car went no further. Steak & Ice-Cream broke a drive shaft on stage 2, along with half the world it seems, as Alan Clarke & Bradfield, along with "cousin Vinnie" did the same. Vinnie managed to limp to service and change the shaft, but Alan Clarke & Ice-Cream didn't.

Sparkie finished, raising the moral of the camp, and Cousin Brian, sitting in the Ballast seat for a change, finished 25th overall, showing us all up, and casting some doubt on his membership application. The reason is that result's too good! As well as that, The Riordan's "borrowed" BunBun's Nova for the day, and brought it back in one piece, unfortunately......

So, for the rest of us. I was the Deputy COC, and I had BunBun driving me in his new toy, a Peugeot 205 GTi. He failed in his evil master plan of making me car sick and taking over my job, but don't tell him how close he came! The Hoff was Club Steward, and had Club Safety, Her Madness, along for the spin. Mol (aka Pippi) was on entertainment duties at the start of Liam Brennan's stage. The Councillor was marshalling on location 21 of stage 1, earning that Rally Ireland Jacket and Suggs & Dell were Road Closed for the weekend, providing entertainment to the spectators who arrived early.

As well as that, Eoin Longworth made it down from "up there" and was doing mid point radio on stage 1. We said that we would bring him down, and show him how to run a real rally. He seemed to have a good time, even if he spent the evening giving out. I'd say that it was the pure Cork air that went to his head, as he was so mellow at the end of the day. The only problem now is that we have to return the complement, and we'll do it willingly, but we're bound to mess up what ever job he gives us on his rally! (Happy now Eoin, my ear's still warm after all the rude names you called me for not mentioning your presence!)

As for the rally, somebody won it, with whatshisname second and your man third. I was so tired at the end of the day, I fecked off before prizegiving! Full results are on www.CorkMotorClub.com, I hope!

We've got no pictures, so if anybody's got some, send them on, and we'll give you a mention, or maybe just not publish lies about you.....
