FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rally of the Lakes
We're back.....
God, what a weekend! We're home at last and we all have tales to tell. We
were down helping Darren run Ardgroom & Been Hill, and we had a laugh. Some of
the highlights include
- That party in Eyeries that we stumbled across. Oh, thanks for the cake!
- Me just arriving to help set up the stage Friday when Davis & co. had it
just finished.
- The massive journey from the accommodation to the meeting point Saturday
morning (just roll down the hill!)
- Having to fight to get the marshals dinner Saturday night in Kenmare
because the hotel were told that we would be there at 3 in the afternoon.
The second run hadn't started at that time!
- The drive from Kenmare to Glenbeigh Saturday night (over Ballaghbeama &
Caragh Lake) The AX hasn't recovered yet!
- Splitting the exhaust in the AX on that drive (who put the dip in the
road there?!) and trying to keep Macca behind me as he was driving Steak's
Legacy RS.
- Getting asked to leave the "licensed premises" Saturday night by the
Garda! To be fair, it was almost 2 in the morning!
- Almost getting stuck in the field at flying finish. It was a pure bog!
- Steak having to fix the exhaust after Macca's drive, as well as to get
new back tyres due to Macca's habit of steering with the throttle.
- Having to listen to Macca constantly going on about not being able to
use the handbrake in the Legacy (something to do with the centre diff I
believe)
- Making an "intellectual balls-up" of the spaghetti Sunday evening. (It's
a private joke, so don't ask!)
- The Bun breaking the wipers on the Nova, and trying to fix them with
rally tape!
- Getting deaf and covered in smoke at the prize giving Sunday night. The
band afterwards had a small bit of an identity crises, with Madonna, Cher,
Rod Steward, Queen, Phil Lynott and a load more making an appearance.
- Having the AX sulk Monday on the way home. There's fierce clutch judder,
and the consensus is that the crankshaft oil seal is gone and there's oil on
the clutch.
So, all in all, a fairly typical weekend away at a rally for the boys!

Some photos of the Group B boys. I've got no more, as I was doing flying finish!
