FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It was a mixed night all round for the Red Mist gang. We had Suggs, The Councillor, Macca & Topaz (formally known as Ice-cream) competing, along with CaseyRallySport's Johnny & Vinnie. Big T, Camper & Cousin Brian all cried off before the start and went marshalling, along with Steak (who joined us on the way home from the pub after a bottle of fizzy pop), Colm Feen, Mick Shea, The Hoff, M.M. and about half the Cork Motor Club. Also, Dell was the assistant COC, who had a rather brisk spin with the COC in his rapid BMW.
Oh, as an aside, Macca really landed on his feet, and had a pure "Works" drive. Brian prepared the car (and when was about to weld the exhaust, there was a power failure), Brian brought the car, filled in the scrutiny sheet and also put it through scrutiny. How jammy's that for Macca? To be fair, Macca did actually drive it off the trailer.....
Also, "The Works Navi" had arrived in the country a couple of days before the event, but decided that, as it was too cold, he wouldn't bother going.....
So, for the night. Camper and Big T caused consternation at TP7, before making a bee-line for the Petrol Halt to make a start on the results. Cousin Brian & Colm really drew the short straw and had to marshal at 4 time points in the night. Steak then joined Camper & Big T and while heading back to the HQ with the results, we got "lost" and somehow knocked across the route and spectated for 30 minutes.
As for the crews, while I was doing results, I forgot to note for myself who actually came where! I know it's strange, but when doing results, all you see are figures on a page and they don't sink into the head. (they have a lot of hair to get through first, mind)
So, for the actual results. Both Macca & Topaz and Johnny & Vinnie had a rotten time, and finished well down the order. Johnny & Vinnie were so late that they went over max lateness and got a DNF as a result. To be fair, they were not the only ones who did this. As for Suggs & The Councillor, I don't know, but judging by the grin on the The Councillor's face when he came back, he either did very well, or he just finished his last Rolo. Suggs didn't do too bad after all, and had mighty craic getting out of the lane at time point 7 (lets just say that there was lots of grunting, heaving, sweating and getting covered in mud)
I tried to take a few pictures, but it was far too cold (it was snowing after all!) and I'm just a big girl's blouse and skived off to the car when the sleet & snow fell.
So, roll on the 100 Isles in Skibb in three weeks.....
