Circuit of Munster 2009

There's both good and bad news....

We're back from our trip to Limerick, alive and well. Unfortunately, there was some bad news. The ex Big T machine, "The Flying Snot" had a high speed meeting with a ditch, and the ditch won. I heard one comment that the thing was gone to car heaven, but I've heard today that the car continued for another stage, and a broken fan belt put it out of the rally. That's more like The Flying Snot - bloody unbreakable.

Also, Pockets simply disappeared off the radar. He passed through stage 5 no problem, but then simply disappeared. Hopefully it's not serious, but knowing him, he's all right and planning his comeback.

Edit - Just to leave you all know that I've heard that Pockets had electrical trouble for most of the day after one jump and was terminal mid stage. It's more than likely typical French electrics, and it wasn't our sort of electrical trouble - con-rod through the alternator....

As for the good news, the Bun is claiming a second in class but we'll have to check that thoroughly before giving credence to his claims. Unfortunately, due to an oversight, I didn't get a copy of the results but still....

There was a few of the gang out marshalling and stuff. Suggs was providing ballast in a Double "O" car, Dell was doing stop car, and also doing a grand job of distracting poor Aido from his duties as Stop Radio. Still, I don't know how she managed to do such a good job on Aido, as Car Accountability was shouting for him and Aido is so well behaved.

Speaking of Car Accountability. Our friend Ragworth was car accountability, driven by Postman Pat (the poor man, having to put up with Ragworth). A little birdie told me that Ragworth, the self proclaimed "semi-works navi", managed to get lost. When the claim was put to Ragworth, he denied that he was lost, but he was "momentarily displaced" and "there was a disparity between desired location and actual location" or words to that effect.

Also present was Camper doing flying finish. Camper was stuck in a field, with about 30 calves for company. The calves were adamant to either lick the Almera clean, or use it as a scratching post. Mol (aka Pippi) was doing arrival control and spend the day sunbathing, or "Roasting like a Stuck Pig", to use her own words. She arrived up the afternoon before and helped setting up the stage. "Go on The Dan" was also there, and was there for the night before which by all accounts was a great night....

We've no photos, as the photographers were either doing flying finish or ballast in a Double "O" car....
