Rally of the Lakes
Honey, We're home.......
From the Rally of the Lakes anyway. Overall, it was a mixed bag for the
Red Mist hopefuls, with both Batty & Pockets blowing the gearboxes to bits,
while Goffy was tenth overall and third in class in the National Rally.
Most of the rest of the gang were down marshalling, as Mol (aka Pippi)
was running a stage or four. Camper, Big T, The Councillor, Dell, Suggs put
in an appearance, with Finn & Joe deputising for Steak & Topaz. Also,
Frahill, the Sheehan Motorsport gang and loads more were there giving a hand
as well. MM & The Hoff couldn't make it due to racing at Rosegreen, and
Macca was working (Sucker, working on the Bank Holiday!!!!)
I've no idea of what happened at Saturday's Stages, as Myself & Big T
were setting up Cods Head for Sunday, despite Dell thinking that we were at
the beach sunning ourselves all day. Well, we were not, and the main reason
is that I can't get swimmin' trunks big enough to fit me! Another rumour was
that we skived off to watch the Munster match. Well, we didn't, and even
turned off the radio it was so bad.
Saturday night was a "lively" affair, with Frahill the first to cry off
at 1:05am. Camper was next at 1:45am, with Finn, Joe & Big T holding the bar
up until the rest of the rabble arrived in from the night-club. I believe
that there are rumours that the residents bar was still open at 6 in the
morning! As you can guess, Sunday morning was a delicate time for some, with
sales of Panadol going up 1000% locally.
As for the Sunday stages, well we lost two of the top 5 cars on the
stage (we found them afterwards, as they couldn't move due to parts removed
without the correct tools - they crashed) but the rest of the day went
swimmingly, except for the lack of marshals grub, sunburn, silly stupid tape
cutting my hands, lack of decent toilet facilities....
The post stage debrief was held with the usual Red Mist flair, passion &
attention to detail, as the photos below show.
